God's Wonderful Creations, Most of Them in Kentucky

The Creation Museum also taught us about the beauty of all god's creatures and man's bizarre animal breeding practices. And what better way to learn this than through a petting zoo?

In the Creation Museum's petting zoo one could find an assortment of animals. Some of the usual types included a small cow, a pig, peacocks, rabbits, goats, and chickens that you can feed. Web is afraid of chicken's, so going into the coop wasn't his favorite part of the zoo.

God particularly enjoys animals that chew funny, like the camel and llama alpaca:

*Note: BABY LLAMA in the background!!! He was only 12 days old and was referred to looking like a "bar stool" by the guide.*

God also likes when man breeds hybrids, such as donkey-zebras and horse-zebras:

I wonder if God loves me more because I am a hybrid creature...? After all "God loves variety."

Oh yes, and God also loves chameleons. They are his tree ninjas.

Kentucky, Lucky!

On Sunday, May 31st, Day 2 of the Roadtrip, Web and I set off to meet our friend Nicole, and her friend Crystal, in Kentucky. Now why go out of one's way to Chicago by stopping in Kentucky? Well you may not have known that the Creation Museum sits in Petersburg, KY, right near Ohio, unless you have been following this blog, then maybe you do know.

The first lesson you'll learn from the Creation Museum, is that "dinosaur fossils do not come with tags" that tell us how old they are. And that the Great Flood about 4,300 years ago actually killed all of them off and buried them under sediment worldwide. Yes, the flood that Noah built the ark for. Although, if dinosaurs are animals, and Noah took two of each, I'm not sure why Noah didn't save them... hmmmm.

But despite gaps in Biblically-based logic and gaps in scientific measurement, there were DINOSAURS!!! YAY!!! Any they were roaming everywhere...

Outside:
Inside:
*Note: The tragic death of this dinosaur could have been prevented by Adam following God's word. Before Adam effed up, all animals were herbivores... Does this mean I will go to hell for eating meat? Crap.*

Upstairs:

Luckily, Web and I managed not to anger the dinosaurs and live to tell the tale. But, there were also much more to the Creation Museum than a plethora of dinosaurs and alternative theories to the extinction of dinosaurs...

Ohio, Part III

But not all is nearly as pleasant as relatives in Vandalia, as the weather took a turn on our way to Cincinnati to see my college friend Nicole:

In fact, Nicole warned us of the TORNADO that had touched down just a few miles east of her family's home. Fun!

Put, we survived the thunderstorm and didn't get sucked to any tornadoes. In fact, we were met in Cincinnati with friends, friendly family of friends, friendly cats, beer, and a pullout couch to sleep in.

T'was the end of Day 1 of the Roadtrip Across Amer'ca.

Ohio, Part II

Soon after Pickerington, we drove through Ohio's capital, Columbus. It was rather small looking and didn't cure our boredomitis.

But the grass is greener on the other side of Columbus and we arrived in Vandalia, OH, just north of Dayton. This is where we met Web's aunts, uncles, and his Grandma. (And like dum-dums, we forgot to take pictures. D'oh!)

Like all the other Ohioans I have met, Web's extended family was very friendly & hospitable. It was clear during our family dinner at Ruby Tuesday's though, who runs the house in Vandalia: the women. It was also clear that Web is far behind his cousins in producing grandchildren so I think I was eyeballed by his family as they considered my child-bearing potential.

I'd also note Ohio may contain the fountain of youth, as Web's grandmother, bless her heart, is nearly a century old, just turning 96 this May and doesn't even look 80! Wow!

Ohio, Part I

Before Web and I could fully digest West Virginia, we were served a hot plate of Ohio.

We spent much more time in Ohio, and a goodly amount of it with Ohioans themselves. But first, a stop at a Pickeringtown Wal-Mart Supercenter for restrooms and something to drink. This is where I met Rolly the Pretzel. We were rollin'.

Web and I also caught the disease called "Boredomitis" which is spread through interstate driving in the Midwest. The first symptom we had caught this terrible ailment was heavying rocking out:

Keeping It Brief in West Virginia

So on our way to the great state of Ohio, one has to pass through a sliver of West Virginia, that which is WILD and WONDERFUL. It looked exactly like west Pennsylvania and east Ohio:

However, we came away with important knowledge: Jesus Christ was born in WV, contrary to popular Bible teachings. WONDERFUL! We clearly saw a sign for Bethlehem:

The entire WV visit was a disappointing 11 minutes. I didn't even see Jesus. And I missed the WILD too.

PITT

Pittsburgh was by far the most excited city we came across our first day. It is built over the joining of three rivers, most notably the Ohio River. The city had a lot of trees, seemed gentrified and fairly well-planned. Web and I both liked the multitude of bridges, since we are from the Bridgeport after all. The weather was a tad humid, but mostly fine.

The goal of going to Pittsburgh and going so out of the way when our end point of the day was Cincinnati? Ah yes, Primanti Brothers. A sandwich shop I had seen on the TV a multitude of times for it's delicious sandwiches made on fresh Italian bread, with good cuts of meat, topped with coleslaw and fries standard, as well as a sassy woman that throws the sandwiches together. The restaurant itself is awesomely open 24 hrs a day at the original location at least on "The Strip." In addition there looked to be a ton of other stores, activities, and restaurants to enjoy. But here was our Primant's experience:

While eating Pittsburgh's finest, I noticed the year-long devotion and love of Pittsburgh residents tp their city's sports teams. No matter the actual sports, people sported their local baseball, football, and hockey shirts and jerseys widely.

All the people we ran into in Pittsburgh. in addition, were very nice.

I'd def live her. It has a good vibe and seems awesome. Web even agrees!
